We have been following the installation and consequences of large scale wind "farms", as well as large scale photovoltaic installations, wind-hybrid water pumping plants and solar thermal power plants.
We have witnessed, first-hand, the irreversible degradation of the environment, the damage, forcible loss of our lands, and loss of value to adjacent private property and the totally unacceptable destruction of water resources, which in an arid Mediterranean island like Crete are borderline surreal. We have been particularly vicitmized by EDF affiliates, which having forcibly taken over our propertied has dragged us in legal disputes, arrests and never ending grief. Our case has been documented in this video [http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=OwKv2RnWarw ]
All with the totally cruel and unfair rise in the cost of electricity, which is expected to increase even further as, in Greece the rise in cost has been hidden by a parallel rise in accumulated deficits in the Operator of the Electricity Market, now threatening the whole power supply market with financial collapse.
We, as consumers, are already suffering the consequences and we witness, daily, the closure of major industrial employers as a result of subsidies related to so called Green policies. We also object to non-performing, non-productive subsidies. We feel that Green subsidies promote equipment and hardware, and not real power generation.
We are therefore vehemently opposed to any continuing subsidy, be it in financial, tax, or regulatory to industrial scale wind, or photovoltaic, wind-hybrid or solar thermal power generation.
Sincerely yours
